India Post Postman, Mail Guard & MTS Recruitment 2026 – Latest Update

Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications has conducted the 2026 recruitment examination for the posts of Postman, Mail Guard and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS).

This recruitment was conducted for the 2026 vacancy year through Competitive Examination for eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs), along with Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for eligible departmental employees.

The examination was held on 12 July 2026. The Department of Posts has subsequently released provisional answer keys and invited objections/feedback from candidates in different Postal Circles.

Important Eligibility / Requirements

Examination Pattern

The examination pattern varies according to the post.

For Postman/Mail Guard, the examination includes papers covering basic postal knowledge and general awareness, knowledge of postal operations and local language. A data-entry skill test is also prescribed as applicable.

For MTS, the prescribed examination includes Paper-I covering basic postal knowledge and general awareness.
