The Track Maintainer post has the highest number of vacancies with 57 posts. KRCL has stated that the vacancy numbers are provisional and may be revised if required.
Important Eligibility / Requirements
Candidates should check the requirements of the particular post before applying.
- The required qualification depends on the post.
- Track Maintainer requires 10th pass qualification.
- Engineering posts require the prescribed Diploma or Degree in the relevant discipline.
- Station Master, Section Controller, Goods Train Manager and Commercial Supervisor require graduation.
- Technician and ESTM posts require the prescribed ITI/technical qualification.
- Assistant Loco Pilot requires the prescribed technical qualification such as ITI, apprenticeship or relevant engineering diploma.

Candidates appearing in the final examination of the prescribed qualification could also apply, but they had to produce the required qualification certificate during Document Verification.

For Group C posts, the normal upper age limit is 36 years. Track Maintainer is treated as an erstwhile Group D post and has a higher upper age limit of 45 years.

Selection Process
The selection process depends on the post.
- Section Controller, Station Master and Assistant Loco Pilot: CBT followed by aptitude test/OMR-based aptitude test, Document Verification and Medical Examination.
- Senior Section Engineer, Junior Engineer, Goods Train Manager, Commercial Supervisor, Technician and ESTM: CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination.
- Track Maintainer: CBT, Document Verification, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Examination.
The CBT is tentatively scheduled for September 2026. There will be negative marking, with one mark deducted for each wrong answer in the CBT.
For Track Maintainer, the PET is qualifying in nature. Male candidates must carry 35 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes and run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Female candidates must carry 20 kg for 100 metres in 2 minutes and run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

The examination fee is ₹1,180, including ₹1,000 examination fee and 18% GST.
